Horicon Bank commemorated the legacy of Ardie and her husband Wilbur Halyard during Women’s History Month, recognizing their pioneering efforts in empowering African American families with generational wealth through homeownership a century ago by founding the Columbia Savings & Loan Association.

In recognition of Columbia Savings & Loan’s 100th Anniversary and sharing the dedication to building strong and financially healthy communities in Milwaukee, Horicon Bank’s leadership and board presented a $250,000 check to support Columbia Savings and Loans commitment to upholding the Halyards’ legacy and raising $10 million to assist 100 families in achieving their dream of homeownership.
